The ONE power phrase you need to barrel through any obstacle

Nov 28, 2023
Don't ask

The Bottom Line: Set yourself up for success by assuming

there IS a way to handle tough situations.

Last week’s blog post on resistance may have prompted you to admit that sometimes you ask questions not to gather information, but rather to push back against potentially helpful suggestions.  If so, congratulations!!!  You’ve identified a self-sabotaging behavior, which is the first step in changing it.

Fortunately, you can use another question to make that change:

"How can I make this work?"

I’ve found this simple question to be almost magical in its effectiveness.  By asking it, you:

  • stop feeling stuck and start feeling in control;
  • demonstrate faith in yourself that you can find a solution;
  • unleash your creativity to do just that;
  • boost your sense of self-efficacy (“Damn right I can do this!”);
  • create a self-fulfilling success prophecy by assuming a workable solution exists – and that you’ll find that solution.

This approach can get you moving even when you’re spinning your wheels over a BIG question like “What do I want to do next with my life?”

And I have an answer to both questions in the form of my online course, Time to Create What’s Next.  This course provides the structure and support that will help you power through options and ideas for creating a life that makes your heart sing.  And for just a few days more, it’s available at a 20% discount; just use the code FALL20 at checkout

The course begins in January, so treat yourself to a well-deserved early holiday gift.  After all, you deserve it.
