In golf, a do-over is called a mulligan. Today, I need a MEGA-mulligan.
Why? Well, first of all, because I included the wrong damn link in my recent social media posts.
I thought I shared a link that would allow people to claim a 20% early-bird discount to my butt-kicking course, Time to Create What’s Next. Hundreds of people who are so done with the status quo clicked on the link. Too bad for everyone there was no place to enter the FALL20 discount code.
Sigh.
So I really, truly, fixed the link. This one takes you to the page where you’ll learn how to leave behind feelings of “stuck” and overwhelm as you use a three-step process to create what’s next in your life.
By the way, I screwed up a second task, but it’s hardly worth mentioning in comparison to the first one. I just failed to post this blog on National Mulligan Day.
So what lessons can you take away from this experience of mine?
- A certain amount of public embarrassment is character building.
- It’s more important to get the job done than to ignore or cover up a mistake.
- Everyone falls flat on their face sometimes. The ones who succeed are the ones who pick themselves up and carry on.
So give yourself permission to take advantage of do-overs -- including this one of mine -- when necessary. And happy belated National Mulligan Day!
(BTW, thanks to Peter Drew for posting the image of the sand trap on Unsplash.)
